I’m really glad I took a chance on this one! It’s equal parts Hung Jury, Dead North, Dead in the Pool, and Psycho Sisters. Claudia Perry shines as “Mom” in this fun flick, which offers a plot with surprising depth: Mom is clearly playing favorites with her two kids. When her beloved son accidentally drowns in an unfortunate accident, she concocts wildly inaccurate ideas about what actually happened, not listening to anything her daughter has to say, because what good is she–she isn’t her son. Hellbent on revenge, she manipulates her daughter into helping her exact revenge, leading to a shocking conclusion that I honestly didn’t see coming.
I really enjoyed this movie; the entire cast is unknown to me, as are most of the locations, yet all with the same early 90s W.A.V.E. charm and soundtrack. I also enjoyed the demo version, although the motives of the mother/daughter characters are rather unclear, but it was neat to see Terri/Christine as an antagonist duo instead of hapless victims for a change.
